Today\, it stands as a powerful moment of remembrance\, reflection\, and celebration. \nAt Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum\, we are honored to host this event in partnership with community organizers who have sustained this tradition since 1997. The celebration also reflects a deeper local legacy\, tracing its roots to the Lancaster Strawberry Festival\, which began in 1905. Remarks from community leaders\, a flag presentation\, and a moment of reflection to mark June 19\, 1865 — the day freedom was proclaimed. \n\n12:00 PM – Throughout Event \nLIVING HISTORY REENACTMENTS \nStep into 1865. Immersive reenactors portray the moment enslaved people in Texas received word of emancipation. Walk through historically staged scenes and engage with costumed interpreters throughout the museum grounds.
