Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve is a world-renowned site for spring ephemeral wildflowers. The preserve contains 70 species of wildflower. Explore the ravine and hillsides of this beautiful preserve for spring ephemerals and their pollinator associates. You may choose to work on long-term study in your nature journal of one or two plants or travel from place to place to assemble a multi-page inventory of as many different species as you can find.
What to Expect and How to Prepare: This event will include up to a 1-mile round-trip hike on mostly flat trail with some steady but easy inclines. Dress for the weather and bring drinking water. Participants are asked to supply their own sketchbooks, field supplies, and camp chair or sit pads if necessary. No experience required. This is a no judgement zone! This event is recommended for ages 12 and up (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult). There are port-a-johns available on site.
Where to Meet: At the Shenks Ferry Wildflower Preserve trail kiosk, just past the yellow gate off the parking area.
