SUMMARY:Water Week: Nature Journaling - River and Rocks
DESCRIPTION:Come explore nature through observation and art!\n\n\nEnjoy the rugged terrain of the House Rock area at Clark Nature Preserve. Join us as we capture the geological features of the overlook and its fantastic view of the Susquehanna River. No experience required. This is a no judgement zone! \n \nWhat to Expect and How to Prepare: This event will include an approximately 1-mile round-trip hike on a rocky trail with moderate inclines. There is a 30-foot rock scramble to get to House Rock Overlook. Dress for the weather\, wear sturdy footwear\, and bring drinking water. Participants are asked to supply their own sketchbooks\, field supplies\, and camp chair or sit pad if necessary; also consider bringing your favorite journaling bag or carry system to share with the group. This event is recommended for ages 12 and up (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult). There are port-a-johns available on site. \nRefund Policy: These events usually sell out. If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket\, please let us know so we can open a spot to someone on the waitlist. Refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event. \nAnimal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home. \nCancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine\, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event\, attendees will be emailed\, and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. DESCRIPTION:Be a part of the solution and give back to nature!\n\n\nJoin us as we work on invasive plant removal as part of a comprehensive eco-restoration program for Clark Nature Preserve. We will be using hand tools to remove invasive shrubs and weeds. This work directly contributes to restoring native ecology and protecting regional biodiversity. \nWhat to Expect and How to Prepare: We will use hand tools to remove invasive shrubs and weeds. The work involves using loppers and hand saws to cut shrubs at their base. Some of the shrubs have thorns. All tools and work gloves are provided. \nDress for the weather and wear clothes you don’t mind getting muddy or torn. Sturdy pants are recommended due to the presence of thorns. Bring drinking water. There are port-a-johns on site. This event is recommended for ages 12 and up (participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult). \nAnimal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome.
