SUMMARY:Summer Wildflowers and Pollinators at Kellys Run Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:Explore the beautiful native meadow at Kellys Run Nature Preserve!\n\n\nJoin us on an educational walk through Kellys Run Nature Preserve as we discuss native plants and pollinators. We will talk about the importance of plant diversity in supporting biodiversity and learn how native meadows are created and maintained. You are welcome to bring your guidebooks\, as we’ll be identifying plants and pollinator species along the way! \nWhat to Expect and How to Prepare: This walk will take place on grassy trail surfaces around the meadow through relatively flat areas. There is a port-a-john available on site. Sturdy\, closed-toe shoes are highly recommended. Bring water and a snack. Binoculars and a notebook or sketchpad for recording observations are optional. This hike is recommended for ages 12 and up (anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult). \nAbout the Hike Leader: Sophia Gilbert is a Pheasants Forever Farm Bill Wildlife Biologist working out of York and Lancaster counties. She graduated from McDaniel College in Maryland with a degree in biology and acted as a Grassland Plant Ecology intern at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Virginia before returning to Pennsylvania to work with Pheasants Forever. She developed a passion for pollinators during her undergraduate research at McDaniel while studying plant-pollinator interactions in the experimental meadow at McDaniel Environmental Center. \nWhere to Meet: This hike will meet in the gravel parking area at the intersection of Street Road and Crystal Drive. \nRefund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket\, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event. \nAnimal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home. \nCancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine\, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event\, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event\, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded. \n\n\nThank you to our generous annual sponsors for making this event possible!
