A Journey Through Lancaster to Freedom

Five stops along the Underground Railroad in Lancaster County, traced through the lives of those who risked everything.

Long before the countryside was filled with quiet neighborhoods, Lancaster County was a corridor of risk and refuge. Freedom seekers crossed the Susquehanna under cover of night, hid in the homes of Quakers and free Black families, and sometimes took up arms against the men who came to drag them back.

This is a journey through five real places where that history happened. Tap each stop in order, answer a question, and see what occurred there.
