The Lancaster Capital Day Parade kicks off from Penn Square, featuring Big Boy Brass, historic characters, a replica of the Lancaster County Courthouse, the McCaskey drum line, and anyone else who wants to join in.

Come in historical costume and march along, or bring your pet in costume. Two free contests run alongside the parade:

• Pet Costume Contest — dress your pet in a historical costume and submit a photo by September 25. Joining the parade is optional; awards follow in the square.
• Historical Costume Contest — colonial or period dress, four categories, ribbon prizes, open to the whole family. No pre-registration; just show up in costume.

Gather at 11:30 AM at the Hamilton Stage in Penn Square. The parade steps off at 12:00 PM, with contest awards at 12:30 PM.
