This hike will explore the behavior of water in various natural settings. Participants will hike through a meadow, across a woodland ridge, and downhill along a woodland stream while gaining an understanding of the watershed in real and natural spaces.
This event is part of York County Watershed Week, dedicated to increasing public awareness about the importance of local watersheds to community health, sustainable economies, and environmental quality of the Chesapeake Bay. View the full Watershed Week schedule of events.
What to Expect and How to Prepare: Anticipate a 2-mile leisurely out-and-back route, descening approximately 170 feet downhill and returning the same way, uphill. We will wind across a mix of manmade (Universal Access) and natural, rocky surfaces. Bring water, snacks, pertinent personal first aid, and hiking poles (optional). A port-a-john is available in the parking lot.
